We Are Our Parents Keepers.
The year was 1963. The location was north west Mississippi. The occasion was my birth. I was a love child between the beautiful, high yella country girl and the great, possible professional basketball athelet. It was a rough beginning. Fast forward a few years. Momma married, but did not ask me to leave if I was a handful. Daddy didn’t totally abandone me as my grandad said P, my mom, was not going to California (1963) after you’ve deserted her at the couthouse to marry.
Dad made up in dis-connectivity that was lost as direct result of his recollection to another state. They did not abandone me.
Why is there a push to send parents to an assisted living facily or long term SNF? Did Boomers and especially late baby boomers miss the message?
We are our parents keepers. Make it happen. They did.
