Iāve been looking forward to this solitude.
Not even planes fly overhead, itās so quiet.
Maybe I see one car a day, and itās usually the UPS guyā¦
This wouldnāt be for everyone, but I love it.
Happily, I made a new friend nearby, and we have some fun things planned, but for the day-to day, I feel completely in my element.
Am I bored? Not at all; I also took on a lot of work projects which are keeping me very entertained:) been a funnel-building, launch producing machine.
True, things take longer to do- out of water? Need to bring out the gas-generator, hook it up to the water pump, wrangle the hoses to refill the onboard tank.
True, this requires watching the weather several times a day-storm coming? Thatāll require stowing the portable solar panels, taking in the tall pole holding the signal booster so we donāt have a lightning rod on Wanda. (Thunderstorm last night)
True, I need to keep an eye on my battery levels, and check that Iām not headed into cloudy days, plan accordingly to keep juice going for my WiFi, heater, among other things.
True, propane bottles last only so long, and invariably choose to run out middle of the night, requiring me to strap on the headlamp and switch to a new tank in the dark when I wake up cold.
But Iām reveling in the..I guess control that I have over the pieces of my environment, and the attention it takes to keep everything running smoothly.
Wandaās systems all operating wonderfully.
I love figuring out little things for convenience, and having a perfect place for everything..it speaks to the puzzle-solver in me.
All this to say Iām thriving out here- nearing 3 weeks in the desert, and Iām quite content.
Plus the sceneryās not too shabby.
