Even though nonprofit organizations are mission-focused rather than profit-driven, it is essential for a nonprofit to have a business plan. This is because a business plan provides a strategic direction for the goals it wants to achieve.

The following steps are essential for the preparation of a business plan:

Gather your data and documents- Collect all the relevant documents to showcase your nonprofit’s financial position, which may include operational funding projection, and consider your nonprofit projected costs.

Start with the goal- Craft a mission statement by explaining what your nonprofit aims to achieve at the end of the day. Also, keep in mind that a thoughtful and concise mission statement can open the door to many fundraising opportunities.
