100 years!!!

What a celebration today was for my beautiful grandmother Sally Browder Atkins.

It began with her great grandson Aaron Gasca preaching a sermon at her church this morning and then a community gathering of several hundred people who came to share their love with her.

I will hold these sweet memories for a long time in my heart. I am so blessed to have my precious grandmother for so long.

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning. As I sat in the waiting room, and looked around, my heart broke. After 3.5 days of NO PHONE (it wasn’t even in the same city with me), I hated what I saw. EVERY SINGLE PERSON, including myself for a few mins before I made myself put it down, had their head down on their screen.

No eye contact
No personal interaction
No connection whatsoever

We simply CANNOT live like this.

Will you be the one?
Will you put down your phone and look people in the eyes? Like RIGHT NOW!!! Who is in front of you??? Look at them

Yesterday was Erin Sorenson Brautigam’s first birthday in heaven. I was at a retreat without phones or connections to the outside world…just a complete focus on Jesus!

I wore a necklace Erin gave me every day. I held my hand on it over my heart for much of the worship time. I prayed for her boys. I thought of the blessing of her friendship. And, I was overcome with imagining what her birthday looked like in Heaven at the feet of Jesus.

She was the life of the party here on earth and she is dearly missed but I can guarantee she had the BEST BIRTHDAY of her life yesterday.

I wanted to hop on and honor her by asking you, “when your last breath is taken on this earth, do you know for certain where you will celebrate your next birthday?”
