Remember the Georgia Fireworks Tax Grant we were fortunate to receive earlier this year?

One of the items purchased through that grant was a set of Streamlight portable tower scene lights for nighttime operations. With the number of fires our crews have responded to recently, these lights have already proven their value.

They provide powerful, reliable lighting that helps our firefighters see hazards, work more efficiently, and remain safer while operating in dark and challenging conditions.

We are extremely grateful for this funding and proud to show our community exactly how these grant dollars are being turned into equipment that directly protects our firefighters and the citizens we serve.

Today, Northside personnel had the opportunity to set up a Landing Zone (LZ) to assist EMS with getting a patient the next level of care.

We always enjoy working alongside our friends at EMS and Air Evac Fayette. When ground and air crews come together, it’s all about one goal—getting patients the care they need as quickly and safely as possible.

Not every call involves smoke, fire, or flashing lights. Sometimes it’s simply making sure there’s a safe place for the helicopter to land.

Just another day of neighbors helping neighbors.

Northside Fire Rescue is looking to expand our live-fire training facility, and we’re asking our community and local businesses for a little help.

We are currently searching for one 40-foot shipping/CONEX container to add to our existing burn box. It does NOT have to be pretty — in fact, the rougher, the better! If you have an older container that’s no longer suitable for storage or commercial use, it may still be perfect for what we need.

Our shipping containers are converted into realistic training environments where our firefighters can practice:

🔥 Live-fire attack and hose advancement
🔍 Primary search and victim removal
🌫️ Zero-visibility search and orientation
🚒 Firefighter survival and MAYDAY scenarios
🏠 Room-and-contents fire behavior and suppression
👨‍🚒 Training newer firefighters in a controlled environment before they encounter the real thing

Adding another 40' container would allow us to create a larger, more complex interior layout and provide our members with better, more realistic scenarios.

We can handle getting it transported to the station and installed. We’re simply looking for someone who may have a used 40' container they’re willing to donate or get rid of.

If you own a business, construction company, trucking company, container company, or simply have an old container sitting around that has seen better days, please reach out to us.

A container that may not be worth much to someone anymore could become a training tool that helps one of our firefighters save a life when it counts.

Neighbors training to protect neighbors.

At approximately 0415 hours on July 30, 2026, Northside Volunteer Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Stagecoach Road. While responding, additional information from dispatch advised that flames were visible from the residence.

Engine 83 arrived first on scene at 0420 hours and confirmed a working structure fire with active fire conditions. A size-up was completed, command was established, and firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the residence.

During the primary search, one occupant was located inside the structure and removed by firefighters. The victim was transferred to awaiting EMS personnel for evaluation and care.

Engine 82 arrived as the second-due apparatus and assisted with fire suppression, search operations, overhaul, and scene support.

Through coordinated interior fire attack and tactical ventilation, crews were able to confine the fire primarily to the area of origin, limiting the incident to moderate fire extension and preventing further damage to the remainder of the residence. A primary and secondary search confirmed that all occupants had been accounted for, and the fire was declared under control shortly thereafter.

Northside would like to thank Upson County EMS, the Upson County Sheriff's Office, Upson County 911, and all assisting agencies for their teamwork and professionalism throughout this incident.

This incident serves as another reminder of the importance of working smoke alarms, having two ways out of every room, and practicing a home fire escape plan with your family.

No further information regarding the occupant's condition will be released out of respect for the individual and their family.

Mutual Aid Response
Thomaston Fire Department

On the evening of July 28, Northside Volunteer Fire Rescue was requested by Thomaston Fire Department to assist with a large fire within the City of Thomaston.

Northside responded with two apparatus to provide mutual aid. Our crews were assigned to establish and maintain a continuous water supply, ensuring fire suppression operations could continue uninterrupted while Thomaston firefighters and assisting agencies worked to contain the rapidly spreading fire.

This incident highlighted the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships. Large-scale fires require resources from multiple departments, and we're proud to stand alongside our neighboring agencies whenever assistance is needed.

Thank you to Thomaston Fire Department, Lincoln Park Fire Department, Rock Hill Fire Department, law enforcement, dispatchers, and everyone involved for the outstanding teamwork throughout the incident.

🚒🏈 Join Northside Fire Rescue at First Responders Night! 🏈🚑

Northside Fire Rescue is honored to support Upson-Lee High School's EMS & First Responders Night on Friday, August 21st at Matthews Field as the Knights take on Lamar County.

This special evening is dedicated to recognizing the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and all first responders who serve our community every day.

If you see our members at the game, be sure to stop by, say hello, and enjoy a great night of football as we celebrate those who answer the call when our community needs them most.

Northside Fire Rescue is glad to report that we had members in the area who stopped to check on the aircraft and its occupants(unofficially). We're thankful there were no injuries, and we appreciate the quick response and coordination by the Upson County Sheriff's Office and everyone involved in ensuring the scene remained safe. We wish the pilot the best of luck getting this beautiful piece of aviation history safely back in the air for the remainder of its journey to Oshkosh.

⚠️ SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY – NORTHSIDE FIRE RESCUE ⚠️

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook that includes Upson County for today. Residents in the Northside Fire District should remain weather aware through this evening.

🌩️ What to expect:
• Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developing this afternoon and evening.
• Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
• Heavy downpours that may quickly reduce visibility and create ponding on roadways.
• Strong wind gusts capable of bringing down tree limbs and causing isolated power outages.
• Heat index values climbing into the triple digits before storms develop.

🚒 Northside Fire Rescue asks everyone to:
✅ Monitor trusted weather sources throughout the day.
✅ Seek shelter immediately if thunder is heard.
✅ Slow down on wet roads and never drive through flooded roadways.
✅ Secure loose outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings if storms intensify.

Our personnel will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if watches or warnings are issued for the Northside Fire District.
