Recyclers, May the 4th be with you! While recycling is fantastic, repurposing an outdated item is another way to save something from the landfill. That's exactly how the set director for Star Wars, Roger Christian, came up with a now famous movie prop. He used antique 1940s Graflex camera flash gun handles, added some other bits and bobs, and voila! The lightsaber! As always, thanks for your support, and may the force be with you!

Happy Earth Day, Recyclers! 🌍♻️
There are so many inspiring quotes about our planet, from Wendell Berry’s "The Earth is what we all have in common" to Carl Sagan’s plea to "preserve and cherish the pale blue dot."
But today, we’re focusing on action, UARRC Haiku style:
On this Earth Day, PLEASE
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Clean and dry, Thank you! 💚
As always, thanks for your support, your tolerance of cheesy poetry, and for presorting your clean and dry goods!

Happy Friday, Recyclers! We need your help! Are you a Jackson resident, or do you know one? We have an empty chair on the board for one lucky Jackson resident. Commitment is one meeting a month--3rd Thursday of the month--for 1-2 hours. We don't do a meeting in September. If you can't make a meeting, we won't hold your feet to the fire. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me here at the center, or at your town office. As always, thanks for your support, and stay warm!

Happy Friday, Recyclers! Jack Frost is heading our way, and because it's going to be brutally cold, we will be CLOSED Saturday, January 24. The forklift and balers don't work at those low temps, and our staff shouldn't have to suffer in those conditions either. We'll be back Tuesday. Be safe out there! As always, thanks for your support, and happy sorting!

Happy Friday, Recyclers! We're midway through January and we've tallied everything up from last year. We shipped over 174 tons of recycling commodities in 2025! That's over 349,640 pounds! We also processed over 11 tons of universal hazardous waste--TVs, computers, etc.--keeping them safely out of landfills. We had the freon removed from 130 refrigerators, dehumidifiers or air conditioners. Soon I'll have figures on how many tons of textiles were diverted from the waste stream. All in all, it's a lot! Let's try to top that next year! Thanks for all your hard work and support! Happy sorting!

Happy snowy Wednesday, Recyclers! The center will be closed today due to the storm. We'll reopen tomorrow at 8 am. Be safe out there!

Happy Monday, Recyclers! Just a reminder the center will be CLOSED WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, December 31 & January 1, for New Year's Eve & Day. Have you thought about any New Year's resolutions? If you're stumped, maybe recycling more, reusing things more, and reducing the items you buy that can't be recycled. As always, thanks for your support, and happy sorting!
