Happy Sunday morning! This year, you will need to verify how much (if any) of the third stimulus you received before you can file your federal tax return. The third stimulus was officially called "Economic Impact Payment 3" (EIP3), and many of my clients had their EIP3 deposited by the IRS on 3/17/21. Be sure to check your bank statements/transaction history to confirm the EIP3 you received this year and avoid tax return processing delays. This article provides more information about EIP3.

In case anyone hasn't heard, the IRS and several states, including Pennsylvania, have moved the income tax filing deadline from April 15th to July 15th.

IR-2020-58, March 21, 2020 — The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced today that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020.

Experts believe that people are putting off filing their tax returns this year because of uncertainty related to federal tax law changes. Even if you are planning to file your own return this year, I am always happy to answer questions!
