In the February 2026 issue of Landscape Architecture and Specifier News (LASN), The Dumke Arts Plaza, an urban hub in Ogden, Utah, was once again highlighted for its continued success in connecting the intended plaza’s character with the region’s outdoor environment. Koolfog worked with landscape designer Sasaki to provide misting elements to cool guests and add a visual reference to the forest and trees of the nearby Wasatch Mountains.
Koolfog, Inc. designed custom playground misting poles as immersive recreation stations to engage visitors and provide a cooling spot to refresh during warmer weather. The strategically placed playground misting poles release a fine evaporative mist when someone presses a button located on the pole. The evaporative cooling technology lowers the temperature of the surrounding environment without overly wetting the atmosphere, making for a great sculptural water feature that provides an imaginative and functional cooling place to enjoy free play amidst a rich array of public art installations. Koolfog playground misting poles are a welcoming aquatic focal point to celebrate the artistic form of the earth’s water element adding to the beauty of The Dumke Arts Plaza.
Integrating natural elements into urban projects to create spaces that complement the surrounding topography and landscapes elevates the ambiance and architectural experience. Our team is proud to have contributed to this amazing project that has gone on to receive a 2024 Merit Award in General Design from the American Society of Landscape Architects Colorado/Wyoming Chapter, as well as the Landscape/Urban Development Best Project Award from Engineering News-Record Mountain States.
