We’re still celebrating the Grand Reopening of Deckers Furniture in Downtown Tiffin!

Last Friday, we joined the Deckers Furniture team and community members for a ribbon cutting celebrating the renovations, additions, and fresh new look at their store, located at 169 S. Washington Street. Their continued investment in Downtown Tiffin means even more opportunities to find something you love for your home while shopping locally.

The celebration also kicked off a Fall Showcase weekend with Washington Street Outfitters and Lee's Floorcovering of Tiffin, Ohio, bringing three downtown businesses together to share what they offer. We love seeing our local businesses support one another and give people more reasons to explore downtown!

Last Friday, we joined First Step Domestic Violence Services for a ribbon cutting celebrating its new Tiffin satellite office, bringing advocacy and support closer to home for survivors and their families.

Since 1980, First Step has served survivors of domestic violence and their children through shelter, a 24-hour support line, advocacy, outreach, and support programs. The new office provides a secure, trauma-informed space where individuals and families can receive help right here in our community.

Criminal Justice Liaison Marrisa Orzechowski will staff the Tiffin office, helping survivors file protection orders, navigate the criminal justice system, communicate with service providers, and connect with community resources. To protect the safety and confidentiality of those First Step serves, the office’s location will remain private.

The ribbon cutting also helped kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, recognized throughout October. Thank you to the First Step team for expanding access to these essential services and to everyone who joined us to show their support.

To survivors in our community: You are not alone. We believe you, we support you, and we stand with you.

ICYMI the 2026 Seneca County Skills Showcase at Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers was last Friday.

The annual event gave hundreds of local high school freshmen a firsthand look at career opportunities in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, construction, public safety, transportation, and logistics. Students connected with local employers through hands-on activities designed to introduce them to the skills used in workplaces throughout Seneca County.

A strong workforce pipeline is essential to the long-term growth and success of our community. Events like the Skills Showcase help students discover the wide range of career opportunities available close to home.

Thank you to Vanguard-Sentinel for hosting, the planning committee for organizing the event, the participating employers for sharing their time and expertise, and the schools for helping make this year’s showcase a success.

We’re hiring!

Two full-time, in-person opportunities are now open with the Seneca County Collaborative: Community Development Director and Tourism Manager.

The Community Development Director will lead City and County CDBG administration, Seneca County Land Bank administration, and community development projects. The Tourism Manager will lead Destination Seneca County, including tourism promotion, partner engagement, visitor services, digital content, and creative work.

Both roles will work closely with businesses, local governments, community partners, and organizations throughout Seneca County.

Applications are due Friday, October 23.

Join us tomorrow, October 2 at 4 PM as we celebrate the Grand Reopening of Deckers Furniture with a ribbon cutting ceremony!

Stop out to 169 S. Washington Street in downtown Tiffin as we celebrate the renovations, additions, and fresh new look throughout the store. These improvements mark an exciting new chapter for Deckers Furniture and its continued investment in downtown Tiffin.

The celebration also kicks off a special Fall Showcase weekend in collaboration with Washington Street Outfitters and Lee's Floorcovering of Tiffin, Ohio, highlighting three local businesses and everything they can offer to help refresh your home and lifestyle this fall.

The ribbon cutting at 4 PM Friday is open to the public, followed by an invitation-only Friends & Family Night. Then, come back Saturday, October 3 from 10 AM to 4 PM for the Fall Showcase Public Open House featuring refreshments, raffles, giveaways, vendors, and special show discounts!
