A big thank you to Jan Schneider, Tiffany Reese, and the entire Tropical Smoothie Cafe team for spending part of their Saturday giving back to the community!

Despite the rainy weather, the team was out at the 9th Annual Micah Hyde Football Camp in Fostoria passing out free smoothies to campers, families, and volunteers. They also helped welcome thousands of visitors during Union Pacific Big Boy 4014’s visit to Fostoria Rail Park.

From supporting local events to creating memorable experiences for residents and visitors, Jan, Tiffany, and their team have quickly become an active part of the community. Their generosity and willingness to jump in and help make events successful is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for helping make two great community events even better! 🥤☀️

There's still time to stop by and tour Tiffin's newest affordable homes! 🏠

After welcoming more than 40 visitors through the homes last night, we invite you to join us today from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 459 S. Sandusky Street for the final open house. These four newly constructed homes were developed through the Welcome Home Ohio program in partnership with the Seneca Regional Chamber & Development and the Seneca County Land Bank to expand homeownership opportunities in Seneca County.

While you're there, be sure to stop by and visit with Judy Dezse, our Grants & Community Engagement Coordinator. Judy has been instrumental in helping coordinate this project and would be happy to answer questions about the homes and the programs that helped make them possible.

Applications for the homes have closed, but everyone is welcome to tour the properties, view the layouts and finishes, and see firsthand the impact this project is having on our community.

We look forward to seeing you this afternoon!

Congratulations to DGL Consulting Engineers on an incredible milestone, 100 years of engineering excellence!

Today, President & CEO Bryce Riggs attended DGL’s Centennial Celebration at the company’s headquarters in Maumee, joining clients, partners, and community leaders in recognizing a century of service, innovation, and impact.

While DGL’s work spans across Ohio, their fingerprints can be found throughout Seneca County. From the reconstruction of Sarah Street and Miami Street in Tiffin, to the replacement of the historic Ella Street Bridge over the Sandusky River, to traffic signal upgrades along State Route 18 and State Route 53, DGL has helped deliver projects that improve safety, enhance mobility, and support future growth.

For 100 years, DGL has partnered with communities, businesses, institutions, and government agencies to solve challenges and build infrastructure that stands the test of time. Their work has helped shape the places where we live, work, learn, and do business.

This week, educators from across Seneca County had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience firsthand the industries, careers, and opportunities that are helping drive our local economy through the 2026 Seneca County Educators' Bootcamp.

The Seneca Regional Chamber & Development would like to sincerely thank the businesses and organizations that welcomed educators into their facilities and shared valuable insight into their operations, workforce needs, and career pathways. Your investment in education and workforce development helps build stronger connections between our schools and our business community.

Thank you to Palfinger USA, American Plastics - Tiffin Division, Tiffin Aire, National Machinery LLC, Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Tiell Financial Group, POET, and Bascom Communications for serving as hosts throughout the week.

These experiences provide educators with a deeper understanding of the opportunities available right here in Seneca County and help them better connect students to future careers. We appreciate your partnership and your commitment to developing the next generation of talent.

Thank you also to North Central Ohio ESC for coordinating this impactful program and to all of the educators who dedicated their time to learning more about our local industries and employers.

Working together, we continue to strengthen the connection between education, workforce development, and economic growth in Seneca County.

Today, Bryce Riggs and Adam Gillmor of the Seneca County Collaborative joined Jessica Sattler from Regional Growth Partnership Northwest Ohio for a full day of business retention and expansion visits with Ballreich Snack Food Company, American Fine Sinter, and JVIS USA.

These conversations are an important part of staying connected with local employers, understanding their opportunities and challenges, and identifying ways we can support continued growth across Seneca County.

A highlight of the day was our visit to Ballreich’s, a company whose roots in Tiffin date back to 1920 when Fred and Ethel Ballreich began making homemade potato chips in a garage using a copper kettle heated by wood scraps. More than a century later, the company continues to build on that legacy through ongoing investments, innovation, and a commitment to producing quality products.

Since becoming part of the Grippo’s family of brands in 2023, Ballreich’s has continued to play an important role in the company’s growth strategy. Today, products produced at the Tiffin facility reach consumers in more than 30 states as well as international markets, demonstrating how a business that started in Tiffin has grown its reach far beyond Northwest Ohio while continuing to build on its proud local heritage.

It was great to learn more about the company's continued evolution while reflecting on the generations of hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit that helped establish Ballreich’s as one of Seneca County’s most recognizable brands.

Thank you to the teams at Ballreich’s, American Fine Sinter, and JVIS for taking time to meet with us today. These visits help strengthen relationships, provide valuable insight into the needs of our employers, and ensure we continue working together to support business success throughout our community.

Today, Bryce Riggs and Adam Gillmor had the opportunity to join educators from across Seneca County as the 2026 Seneca County Educators' Bootcamp officially kicked off. We are excited to spend the week alongside this outstanding group of teachers and educational leaders as they gain firsthand exposure to the careers, industries, and opportunities available right here in Seneca County.

During today's session, Bryce and Adam shared insights about local workforce needs, career pathways, and the importance of connecting educators and students to the many opportunities available within our community. By helping educators better understand the businesses and industries operating in Seneca County, we can strengthen the connection between the classroom and the workforce.

A special thank you to John Davoli and Bri Fox from the North Central Ohio ESC for organizing and leading this valuable program. Through the bootcamp, participating educators will also earn graduate credit through Ashland University while building stronger connections with local employers and community partners.

Throughout the week, educators will tour a variety of employers and organizations, including Palfinger, American Plastics - Tiffin Division, the Seneca County Airport, National Machinery LLC, Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Tiell Financial Group, POET, and Bascom Communications. These experiences provide a behind-the-scenes look at the careers, technology, and workforce opportunities that help drive Seneca County forward.

We appreciate all of the participating businesses for opening their doors and investing in the future workforce of our community. We look forward to joining the group throughout the week and continuing these important conversations about education, workforce development, and career awareness.

Today, the Fostoria Area Historical Society partnered with Calico Charlie's Candy & More to bring history to life through a special presentation on Charles Foster, better known as “Calico Charlie.” Featuring Leonard Skonecki in character as Foster, attendees enjoyed an engaging look at the life, legacy, and impact of one of Fostoria’s most notable historical figures.

The event drew a great turnout, filling the shop with community members eager to learn more about local history while supporting two outstanding members. It was a fantastic example of how partnerships between local organizations and businesses can create meaningful experiences that celebrate the people and stories that helped shape our community.

Thank you to the Fostoria Area Historical Society and Calico Charlie’s Candy & More for hosting such a memorable event and helping keep Fostoria’s history alive for future generations.
