Our Economic & Workforce Development Manager, Adam Gillmor, is attending today’s JobsOhio Technician Path announcement at Northwest State Community College, where JobsOhio is sharing details on a new workforce incentive designed to help employers create and expand earn-and-learn opportunities.

Through the JobsOhio Technician Path, eligible employers can receive up to $10,000 per employee who progresses through an approved technician training pathway. The funding is paid at milestones throughout the employee’s training and can support pathways such as associate degree programs, technical training and registered apprenticeships.

The program is available to employers in JobsOhio targeted industries with Ohio operations. Participating employees must be paid at least $20 per hour, and the opportunity is available for new hires, current employees and career switchers.

Applications are now open. If your business is looking for ways to develop skilled technicians and invest in your workforce, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Welcome new member, Mohawk Local Schools!

Mohawk Local Schools has been educating students in the community since 1958, when the district was formed through the consolidation of schools in Melmore, Sycamore, and McCutchenville. Today, Mohawk serves 880 students from preschool through 12th grade, providing an educational experience designed to prepare students for the larger world, both locally and globally.

Guided by the vision, “Preparing Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Challenges,” Mohawk is focused on giving students a strong foundation they can carry with them beyond the classroom. The district’s Portrait of a Warrior centers around five pillars: Communication, Critical Thinking, Financial Literacy, Perseverance, and Responsibility. By developing and applying these skills throughout their education, students are better prepared for life after high school, whether they choose to enter the workforce, serve in the military, or attend college.

Students at Mohawk have access to a wide variety of opportunities throughout their PK-12 education, including OHSAA sports, fine arts, agriculture, career tech education, and College Credit Plus opportunities. From their earliest years through graduation, the district works to support students as they learn, grow, and prepare for what comes next.

Welcome new member, Jeff Bear!

After a distinguished 30-year military career, Jeff Bear and his wife made the decision to return to Ohio to be closer to family. Originally from Van Wert County, the couple chose Tiffin as their permanent home and were excited to find a house here as they began this next chapter.

Throughout his military career, Jeff developed a strong foundation in leadership, professionalism, and integrity. As he becomes more involved in the Seneca County community, he brings a service-first mindset and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. Whether volunteering, supporting local organizations, or lending a helping hand where it's needed most, Jeff is committed to strengthening the community he now calls home.

Jeff joined the Chamber to build meaningful relationships, connect with others who share a passion for the community, and support the continued growth and success of Seneca County. We are excited to welcome him as an individual member and look forward to seeing the positive contributions he will make.

At yesterday’s Seneca County Safety Council meeting, we welcomed Officer Brian Ruckstuhl, better known online as Officer Brian SRO, to share his experience with school safety, building trust and connecting with students.

Brian is a U.S. Navy veteran and retired Wood County Sheriff’s Office deputy who served for 35 years. He now serves as the School Resource Officer and Safety Director at Hopewell-Loudon Jr/Sr High School-, where he works each day to create a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

From teaching D.A.R.E. and supporting students to bringing music into the hallways and attending school events, Brian has found creative ways to build meaningful relationships throughout the Chieftain community. He also shares his work online and has grown a TikTok following of more than 9,800 people.

Thank you, Officer Brian, for joining us and for the positive impact you continue to make at Hopewell-Loudon and across Seneca County!

Centered around the theme Fierce & Fearless, the summit brought together women from across the region for leadership development, meaningful conversations and sessions focused on workplace culture, accountability, philanthropy, personal growth and balancing leadership with life.

Help fill the vault and fuel young minds! 🍎

Chamber & Development member Your Legacy Federal Credit Union is hosting a Community School Snack Drive to collect individually wrapped, non-perishable snacks for students at schools throughout Seneca County. Donations will help ensure students have access to a snack when they need a little extra support during the school day.

Donations can be dropped off inside Your Legacy Federal Credit Union, located at 25 Shaffer Park Drive in Tiffin, through Friday, August 28. Suggested items include granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, pretzels, popcorn, trail mix, and other individually wrapped, store-purchased snacks, with healthy options especially encouraged.

To wrap up the drive, Your Legacy will host a curbside drop-off on Friday, August 28, featuring BNE BBQ Food Truck. Stop by, drop off a donation, grab some delicious BBQ, and support local students at the same time. A portion of BNE's sales will also be donated back to the Snack Drive.

Whether it’s one box or several bags, every donation can make a difference for students across Seneca County!

Another major manufacturing investment is coming to Tiffin!

Kreate Tiffin LLC has purchased the former Ameriwood Industries and Dorel Home Furnishings facility at 458 Second Avenue for $13 million.

The property includes approximately 542,784 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space on 35.42 acres, giving Kreate an established facility capable of supporting large-scale production and distribution.

This purchase also means Tiffin’s inventory of large, move-in-ready industrial buildings is now fully absorbed. With the existing speculative building at Eagle Rock Industrial Park also fully occupied, the need to continue preparing new industrial space has never been clearer.

Earlier this month, AFLP broke ground on a new 120,000-square-foot speculative industrial building at Eagle Rock Industrial Park, helping ensure our community remains ready for the next business expansion or investment opportunity.

We’re excited to welcome Kreate’s investment in Tiffin and look forward to learning more about the company’s plans for the facility in the months ahead.
