It's Gala Season ya'll!

It is a time where we get dressed up and support organizations doing important work in our communities. Chapter member Lupine DeSnyder and the team at ReFIT Portland are hosting their annual gala/fundraiser in a little less than a month (Nov 16) at the Willamette Valley Country Club.

This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Home.” In Emerald City, we’ll enjoy a delicious catered dinner, bottles of wine, signature cocktails, live music, dancing, silent and live auctions while giving back to our physically and financally challenged neighbors in need.

The event is open to the public, 18 years and older. Sign up details are in the comments.

Nonprofit chapter member Lupine DeSnyder shared the incredible mission of ReFIT Portland (Remodeling for Independence). They provide no-cost home modifications to financially and physically challenged members of the greater Portland area.

Some ways they help include installing wheelchair ramps, bathroom grab bars, ADA-compliant sinks and toilets, widening doorways, and more.

For 25 years and counting, their 100% volunteer-run organization has made it possible for Portland neighbors to navigate their homes safely and live independently.

🌟 Accountability: The Backbone of a Thriving BNI Chapter 🌟

It can be hard as business owners to be accountable to our own, long-term business goals vs. the short-term demands of the day-to-day.

This week, during our in-person meeting, we discussed our core value. Within our chapter, the commitment to holding ourselves and one another accountable is what sets us apart and drives our collective achievements. Thanks Whitney Eikmeier!

💡 Why Accountability Matters:

Consistency in Engagement: Regular attendance and active participation ensure that we are always there to support and learn from each other.

Quality Referrals: By committing to understanding each other’s businesses deeply, we provide quality referrals that lead to meaningful connections and opportunities.

Personal Growth: Holding ourselves accountable means setting goals, taking action, and continuously striving to improve, both personally and professionally.

🤝 Together, We Achieve More:

In our BNI chapter, we embrace accountability by:

Setting Clear Expectations: From attendance to referral goals, having clear guidelines helps us stay on track.

Offering Constructive Feedback: Providing and receiving honest feedback helps us grow and improve.

Celebrating Successes: Recognizing and celebrating each other's achievements fosters a positive and motivating environment.

By holding ourselves and each other accountable, we create a culture of trust, reliability, and excellence. It’s this culture that propels our chapter forward, ensuring that every member and their businesses thrive.

If you're ready to make accountability more a part of your business growth plan, come visit a chapter and see what it looks like in person. 🚀

At our in-person meeting today, our networking coordinator Bill Sunderland shared an analogy about how individuals are like pencils. Stay with us....It might sound odd at first, but the more you think about it, the more it makes sense.

👩‍🎤 People are like Pencils ✏

1. Essential and Versatile: Just like a pencil, people are essential in countless ways. We all have unique skills and abilities that contribute to the bigger picture, whether it's in the workplace, our communities, or our families.

2. The Power of Erasers: Mistakes are part of being human. The eraser on a pencil symbolizes our ability to learn, grow, and correct our errors. It's a reminder that it's okay to make mistakes as long as we strive to improve.

3. Sharpening for Growth: To be effective, pencils need to be sharpened. Similarly, we need continuous learning and development to stay sharp and perform at our best. Embrace opportunities for growth and never stop improving.

4. Inner Strength: The core of a pencil, its graphite, is what makes it write. Our core values, integrity, and character define us and drive our actions. It's our inner strength that leaves a mark on the world.

5. Different Yet Unified: Pencils come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, but they all serve the same purpose: to create, communicate, and connect. Our diversity is our strength, and together, we can achieve incredible things.

Remember that each one of us has the power to make a lasting impact, one mark at a time. ✍️
