We're eager to get started for 2026 so you may see us out on your lawn over the next few days collecting samples for your soil tests now that portions of the lawns are melting off.
Many companies have abandoned soil testing as part of their program. Electing instead to take the stance of "make it green and leave it be". Well, the lawn may be green, but not necessarily healthy. Without knowing nutrients levels, they are not being applied at the proper levels, possibly even in violation of the law as phosphorous cannot be applied with proper soil testing date, and if the pH is low, nutrients are not even even utilized by the turf. Soil testing is an essential part of a proper lawn care program and is always included in Pro Grass' Premium Program.

Did you know a soil pH that is off by as little as 1.5 points can cut the availability of nutrients in half? Heavy rains and decomposing leaves makes soils in the eastern US typically acidic. Lime is needed to raise the pH and ensure the turf is utilizing all the nutrients available to it. Unlike many other companies Pro Grass includes soil testing in our program to ensure the grass is just not green, but also healthy!

Pro Grass Lawn Care, Inc. established in 1979 is one of the largest independently owned, local lawn service and ornamental shrub care companies in the Baltimore, MD area, conveniently located in the heart of Timonium, Maryland. We provide lawn care to Baltimore, Harford, Howard, and Carroll counties and areas in southern Pennsylvania such as New Freedom, Stewartstown, Shrewsbury and Glen Rock. Our trained lawn and tree/shrub specialists are all board certified by the Maryland Department of Agriculture in the use and safety of pesticide applications. Pro Grass, Inc. was originally founded in 1979 by Louis Cariello, and is now under the ownership and management of his son, Neil Cariello, who earned his degree in Agronomy from the University of Maryland in College Park.
