Dorthy Stucky Halley and I took a break to see a movie tonight. Putting on our 3D glasses changed our view. Dorthy has certainly changed me for good, as she has for so many others! Fun night!

Here is Part 2 of our Master Class Series with Michelle McCormick, the Executive Director of Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV). In this conversation, Michelle illustrated the value of understanding Battering Motive as it relates to victim safety. Painting all who batter with the same brush can unintentionally place victims in further danger. Thanks so much for listening, and please share this important information widely.

We had an amazing conversation with Michelle McCormick, the Executive Director of Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV), and our good friend. Her vast experience and knowledge in the field of domestic violence intervention is amazing. I am sharing two links to videos of our interview that I think you might enjoy.

This is Part 1: The Transformation of and Advocate

I will share Part 2 in a second post shortly. Best to you all!

Our hearts are broken today. We’ve lost a hero.

Saturday night, a Hays Police Department officer was killed while rushing to help someone in our community who was experiencing domestic violence. This brave officer didn’t hesitate to answer that call, knowing the danger it might bring.

Every day, we at Options work side by side with these incredible officers. We’ve seen their compassion with survivors and know the weight they carry. This officer died putting themselves between violence and vulnerability.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the officer’s family and the entire Hays Police Department.

If you or someone you know needs help: Call 800-794-4624 or text HOPE to 847411. All services are free and confidential.
