2021 has kicked off strong with new Bryan Cohn Racing driver David Zemon capturing 13th in PAX last weekend at the first solo of the season in St. Louis. David is my first SIM/Autocross client and so far we've had a blast working together to improve his performance.
This past Monday I coached another new Bryan Cohn Racing driver Paul Chin in his Supra during a private test day at Heartland Park. Paul drove well putting everything we worked on to use and dropped 2 full seconds off his previous best time. Its crazy some of the speed increases, from 134mph to 145mph at the braking point after Alpha for example. I was impressed by the Supra, that is a seriously fast piece of kit. Hopefully we'll have a chance to work together again soon as Paul is starting his competitive career in a few weeks with SCCA's Time Trial program. Those Mustang GT350's better watch out...
And finally Aaron Florkowski had his first go in his new ST5 Miata, the ex Kopitski/Dexter two time NASA Championship winning car that Brett Westcott raced most recently. After a sensor in the AIM failed costing us most of the morning he rebounded nicely setting a personal best lap while coming to grips with Hoosier R7's, full aero and no joke, DOUBLE the power of his old Miata track car!
Coming up this weekend is three days of coaching with PCA @ Heartland, April 22 Track Night in America at Heartland and April 30-May @ Gateway. I have time for additional coaching clients at all three events including the Friday testing day at Gateway.
See you at the track!
