Gooood Morning Reaper Crew!

We’ve got a pretty busy day ahead of us in St. Joseph! We’ll be making a few stops before tonight’s investigation… including one place with a rather interesting history involving the treatment of mental illness. 👀

Any guesses where we’re headed first?

TOMORROW!

DDP is teaming up with Offbeat Paranormal, Scott with Ghost Light Paranormal & Stacey Price inside one of Missouri's most historic and haunted buildings.

Built in 1854, The Beattie Mansion was home of Armstrong and Eliza Beattie. Armstrong was a prominent St. Joseph banker and served as the city's mayor multiple times.

After the Beattie's deaths, the mansion took on an entirely different role. It became the Home for the Friendless, providing shelter for people in need, and later became the Memorial Home for the Aged, where generations of residents spent their final years.

More than 170 years of history are contained within these walls.

Not every interesting discovery in an old newspaper has to be about tragedy.

While researching The Beattie Mansion ahead of this weekend’s investigation, this little gem turned up: a newspaper testimonial from Eliza J. Beattie for a Wheeler & Wilson sewing machine from June 4, 1871.

She wrote that she had used the machine for nine years and that it still worked as well as when it was new.

It’s such a small, everyday glimpse into Eliza’s life and exactly the kind of detail that can be interesting to bring up during an investigation.

“Eliza, did you sew?”
“Do you remember your sewing machine?”

Sometimes it’s the ordinary pieces of someone’s life that can make the most fascinating questions and responses. 💜

We had way too much fun with the intercom at the Historic Fremont County Jail. 😆

We decided to use it in the beginning of our investigation to see if it would stir activity up.

We werent dissapointed 😳

💜 One year ago today…

We made an announcement that felt a little scary, a little exciting, and very much like a new beginning.

After being known as That’s the Spirit, we officially announced that we were becoming Drop Dead Paranormal!

The name changed, the look changed, and the direction evolved but the reason we started doing this never really did.

What began as a group of women with a shared interest in the paranormal grew into something much bigger than we ever expected. We've investigated historic buildings, heard some things we still can't explain, collected evidence, laughed until we couldn't breathe, questioned our own sanity more than once, and met some incredible people along the way.

A year later, Drop Dead Paranormal has taken us places we never imagined we'd go.

And looking back, announcing that name change was just the beginning.

So today, we're celebrating one year of DDP. 💜

For those who have been here since the That’s the Spirit days, thank you for sticking with us through the evolution.

And for those who found us somewhere along the way—welcome to the Reaper Crew!

We're so happy you're here, and we're excited to see where this next year takes us! 👻
