Starting January 1, 2026, the federal reporting threshold for Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC increased from $600 to $2,000 per payee, per calendar year.

💰 New threshold: $2,000 per payee
🚩 Effective: Payments made on or after January 1, 2026
📝 Filing deadline: January 31 each year

If you pay independent contractors, make sure you understand the new reporting requirements and keep accurate payment records.
