Calling all food & beverage entrepreneurs! 🍽️🥤

We're hosting a Pitch Competition with $25,000 in total prizes up for grabs, and we want YOU on that stage.

Here's how it works: each business competes in one category: Brick & Mortar Restaurants, Caterers, Food Truck, or Beverage — for a $5,000 prize. Category winners then compete for the $5,000 Grand Prize on top of that.

You'll get 3 minutes to pitch in person, on either September 28th or 29th (6–9pm). Applications, including your pitch slides, are due September 21st, and we'll let you know your time slot by September 25th.

There's also a free virtual Prep Session on September 23rd to help you polish your pitch before the big night.

Winners will be announced in person at our Tasting Event on September 30th — you'll need to be there to claim your prize — and will receive four 1-on-1 coaching sessions to help grow their business even further.

Entry fee is $100. If you've been building something great in the food or beverage space, this is your chance to be seen (and win big). Apply today!

: Your is Costing You Contracts. 🚨If you want to work with the State of Maryland, your NAICS code is more important than your business card.

Here's why:
🔍 If they can't find you, they can't pay you. State buyers on eMMA don't search "contractor" — they search by NAICS code. Wrong code = invisible.

It decides if you're "SMALL."
Some codes let you make $45M and still be small (236220 - Construction). Others cut you off at $13.5M. Your code decides if you qualify for Maryland's Small Business Reserve (SBR) program.

✅ It unlocks set-aside money. Maryland MUST spend 15% with small businesses and 29% with MBE-certified businesses. But if your NAICS doesn't match the RFP, you can't bid as small or MBE — even if you're certified.

🏗️ Especially for Real Estate & P3s: Maryland issues almost all Public-Private Partnerships under 236220 and 237210. If you only list yourself as 531390 (Real Estate Developer), you'll get disqualified. Pro Tip: Don't just have ONE code.

Need help picking the right one? Drop your industry in the comments. 👇

Knowing your (North American Industry Classification System) code is crucial for your small business because:

1. Increased visibility and credibility.
2. Improved access to financing and funding.
3. Enhanced competitiveness.
4. Better decision-making through data-driven insights.
5. Compliance with regulatory requirements.
