🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT — UPDATE: 6/11, 7:05 PM🚨
The City encourages the public to continue avoiding the area and yield to all emergency personnel. There is still heavy emergency response presence and heavy smoke in the air. Residents in the immediate area should continue to shelter in place.
STATEMENT FROM SOUTH SAN JOAQUIN FIRE AUTHORITY:
“Crews remain on scene at the Promontory Fire in the area of Promontory and Hansen Roads. Multiple mutual aid agencies are on scene with an estimated total of 200 fire personnel, and approximately 100 additional support personnel to cover multiple incidents in the area (2 commercial warehouse fires and multiple smaller grass fires)
Crews continue to battle the fire and smoke at the Medline Warehouse, which is considered a total loss. An additional fire broke out at the nearby FedEx warehouse, with pallets and multiple big rig trailers catching fire. Crews performed an aggressive fire attack to bring that fire under control. The exterior of that building did catch fire, however, personnel were able to keep the fire from engulfing the building.
City of Tracy fire stations remain fully staffed, with neighboring agencies covering our jurisdiction. We encourage the public to continue avoiding the area and yield to all emergency personnel. There is still heavy emergency response presence and heavy smoke in the air; residents in the immediate area should continue to shelter in place.
The City of Tracy’s City Manager has declared a local state of emergency - this does not change the status update or situation, however helps to ensure that all available resources and emergency response capabilities are available to provide assistance. We will continue to monitor and update as necessary.”
