-BUG HIGHLIGHT-
YELLOW JACKETS
These ½ inch long, black and yellow flying bugs are considered a type of wasp. They arrive in early April and leave in late August, making them the perfect summertime pest.
They’re highly territorial and can be aggressive, stinging multiple times. They’re very attracted to human food, specifically meats and sugary beverages, and survive off of standing water.
Yellow Jackets mainly build their nests in underground burrows, but can also be seen in shrubbery, attics and other small spaces.
Yellow Jackets are carnivores, so they spend most of their time searching for other insects like caterpillars in your garden.
Regular maintenance and removal of standing water are your best options for prevention!
