Less talk more action!
With all the post about the pines it seems a great time to introduce “rock soup”. And all of the initiatives we are bringing forth collectively. ESPECIALLY the ones for the people at the pines.
We just finished our second private event. At this luncheon we discussed the collective resources and passionate people we have to work with. At this event the discussions were primarily three topics. 1. The at risk homeless community. 2. New home developments and the need to saturate the market in new houses to create a decrease in supply and demand, and how to facilitate small companies to get in the game and build both single family and affordable housing. 3. The need for SRO (single room occupancy) and a substitution housing for those that would normally be at the pines or safe harbor.
We also discussed a work program and empowerment programs for the homeless community in our area.
This is a collective group of initiatives that we are putting together as a hub for numerous programs for “the housing crisis and at risk community”. We will be filling a calendar of small fun events by invite only to not only discuss, but create real initiatives for solving the housing crisis. Not just one underlying area, but In all different manners, categories and sub-categories for the at risk and general public in need of housing. This will be done in collaboration with our non profit, a handful of local businesses, outreaches, churches, other organizations and like minded individuals. I believe we may call it “rock soup” but remaining undetermined at this time.
We will also be talking about farm communities such as the one we are doing in TC, GA and in Africa.
I will be posting more leading up to the future private events as well as the public forum the be held at the church near the pines in April.

We are all for solving the problem because this can happen to any of us and has happened to me. We know many of those homeless people in the pines. And within our communities. I have brought a number of people from there life as homeless to a new life through our farm and ministry and businesses. One is actually my roommate as we speak. He now has a car, a home and a job and just recently started a business. After less than a year after 4 years in the pines and homeless.
We are creating an empowerment program and a number of “hand up not hand out” programs through numerous chapters, outreaches and business endeavors this year. The nonprofit I co-founded DVE Ministries, in conjunction with our DVE 3P fund and numerous businesses are developing housing on numerous levels. From camping to cottages, shared housing, worker housing, SRO, affordable housing, section 8, work farms, out of state work farms for addiction rehabilitation and even an entry level home ownership program. dveministries.com and thedveproject.com By joining and coming together we are collaborating with others to create solutions in other areas as well, like mental health and disabilities, especially the “At risk communities” such as those at the pines. Not just talking. But making real plans! We will be posting about it in the coming weeks.
