October is Fire Prevention Month, making it the perfect time to review more than just smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. 🧯

True preparedness means having a plan. Review your safety procedures, update emergency contacts, confirm evacuation routes, and make sure everyone understands their role during an emergency.

When a plan is in place, uncertainty is reduced, communication improves, and response times are often faster. Preparation is one of the most effective ways to support fire safety and business continuity. 🔥

FLOODING AND HEAVY RAIN THIS WEEKEND ⛈️☔️

A strengthening nor’easter will bring coastal flooding, heavy rain, and wind to parts of the East Coast through the weekend. Wind gusts could reach 40 to 60 mph, while coastal areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain, with higher totals possible along the Jersey Shore, Long Island, and coastal New England. The greatest coastal flooding concern will be around high tides tonight and tomorrow morning.

Our partners at Monarch Weather & Climate Intelligence® are keeping us updated as the storm develops. If you face the unexpected this weekend, our team is ready 24/7 to respond.

You've probably heard the term atmospheric river on the weather channel, but what does it actually mean?

Atmospheric rivers are long, narrow bands of water v***r that move moisture through the atmosphere. When they make landfall, they can produce prolonged periods of heavy rain or snow. These systems help replenish water supplies, but some events can also increase the risk of flooding and water damage.

If your home or business is impacted this season, ServiceMaster Restore® is ready to help 24/7/365.

09/24/2026

We may be looking at the strongest El Niño on record. On September 19, the key Pacific monitoring region reached 3.05°C above average, breaking the previous record set in November 2015. And there are still three months of potential strengthening ahead. The Pacific is running at a dramatically different pace than the Atlantic this year. The Eastern Pacific has already produced 16 named storms, exceeding its full-season average of 15, while the strengthening El Niño is helping create an environment favorable for continued Pacific activity.

The average peak date of the Atlantic hurricane season between 2016 and 2025 was eight days later than the historical average. It remains to be seen if this pattern will continue, but 2026 is likely to be another backloaded season.

🌧️ NOR'EASTER FLOOD RISK 🌧️

A weekend nor’easter could bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and more than 2 inches of rain across parts of New England Saturday and Sunday. Localized rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with a high-end potential near 6 inches in areas like Boston. Coastal flooding is also a concern, with the Norfolk-to-Nantucket corridor the main zone to watch.

Our partners at Monarch Weather & Climate Intelligence® are keeping us up to date with the latest forecasts. After the storm, our teams are ready 24/7 to respond when you need us.

Last month, ServiceMaster of Salem, Eugene, Corvallis, & Lincoln City was one of the sponsored holes at the Corporate Shoot Out and Ironman Golf Marathon for the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties.

Companies and restaurants from the area competed in 10 unique skills challenges ranging from putting, chipping, and driving that centered around a fun, spectator-friendly, festival. All with the goal of raising donations for children grades 1-12 in the local community.

"We are still counting donations, but we have raised over $73,000 at this event! That is the most we've raised at this event in 4 years! And it's all thanks to generous sponsors like ServiceMaster Restore."
-Elena Piexoto, Special Events Director, Boys and Girls Club of Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties

It was an amazing opportunity to connect with so many local businesses, and we look forward to our continued partnership with the local Boys & Girls Club here in Salem, Oregon!
