Your polishing stone was cutting great—until it wasn’t.

If your stone starts loading up or glazing over, something needs to change. Start with a few basics:

✔️ Check your lubricant.
Whenever possible, use a good-quality stoning lubricant—and don’t skimp. Proper lubrication helps prevent loading, particularly with harder stones.
Check your stone selection.

✔️ Material type and hardness matter.

✔️ Use the right pressure.
Hold the stone firmly for directional control and apply enough pressure to make it cut—but don’t overdo it. Let the abrasive do its job.
