Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall this afternoon. Current forecasts indicate that Gilchrist County can expect sustained tropical storm force winds, but there is a potential for a slight shift east, which could increase wind speeds. If this happens, it will occur quickly, so please make your safety plans immediately and get off the roads as soon as you can.
Anticipate power outages, along with the potential for tornadoes and river flooding due to storm surge. Please take this storm seriously and make your plans without delay.
If you need a ride to the shelter, please call 386-935-5418 immediately. This service is only available while conditions are still safe.
Voluntary evacuations are in effect for:
1. Substandard housing
2. Recreational vehicles
3. Mobile homes
4. Low-lying areas
