Thought of the day:
Know your gear! When you get on a gig and there is a mystery portion to what you do live, there is going to be issues. One thing I see a lot, singers having the wrong microphone for their vocal. YouTube University has many lessons on microphone patterns and which ones work best for each scenario. Knowing which microphone works for you will save you frustration and better vocal intelligibility. Too many times I see vocalists who use a tight pattern mic and don't sing into it. Those types of mics are great for rejecting feedback and other elements on a live stage, but if you don't sing directly into it, it will also reject your vocal. Thats not cool.
