From Me To You
I was inspired by the name “Stage Your Life” because we step through many stages in our lives and with our different journey’s, we accumulate a lot of “stuff”. That “stuff” can bring a smile to our face, make a memory a reality, need to be removed from our space to be donated to someone who will enjoy it…or, just plain needs to be thrown out!
In 2016, I visited my Aunt Pat in Boulder Colorado. The week happened to be Thanksgiving week, so it’s apropos that I refer to that time as my “Eat, Pray, Love” week. During my time spent in Colorado, I had the privilege of staying in Aunt Pat’s beautiful retirement community. Throughout my stay, I had the opportunity to chat with worldly, successful, and intellectual retired folks from many walks of life. Throughout that week, I observed, listened, and asked questions about their lives and travels. There was one common denominator I heard from most of them: we go through our lives to collect all this “stuff”, only to get rid of it when we’re older. It’s not only an emotional task to down-size, transition into retirement living…but, it’s physically demanding. I reflected on this a bit and decided when I returned to my home in Texas, I was going to change my life by living more simply and organized. I started organizing my food pantry, closets, drawers, etc. and found that I had repeated items that I kept buying because I simply wasn’t organized. Once I decluttered my living space, and there was a place for everything in my home; it saved time, helped me accessorize my outfits better, brought a sense of peace and most importantly…helped me stay organized for good! I started helping friends & family organize their homes and spread the word about my “Eat, Pray, Love” weekend. After the amazing response from family and friends, I decided that organizing spaces & helping people through the stressful journey of relocating to another space by packing, purging, donating, & staging their home to sell was my professional calling.
