Day Shift/Local Routes

Job Description
β€’ Facilitate the pickup and transportation of intermodal containers from rail yard to appropriate facility.
β€’ Operate vehicle safely according to all DOT and Company regulations.
β€’ Follow instructions given by Dispatcher regarding routing and loading/unloading.
β€’ Deliver transport in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
β€’ Maintain cleanliness and fuel level of truck. Notify supervisor immediately of issue.
β€’ Complete daily truck inspection and maintenance checklist per SOPs.
β€’ Communicate with supervisor if delays foreseen (port/rail backup, traffic delay, maintenance issues or driver error).
β€’ Follow all Company safety rules and immediately inform Supervisor of risks.
β€’ Inform Supervisor of suggested improvements to processes and/or layouts.
β€’ Professionally communicate with Forklift Operators and loaders regarding readiness of loads.
β€’ Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
β€’ Valid CDL-A endorsements required! If the validity of your license changes, it is your responsibility to notify HR within 72 hours
β€’ Valid HazMat endorsement may be required of some Truck Drivers.
β€’ Valid DOT Medical Card required. It is the responsibility of the Driver to maintain a valid card always.
β€’ Certificate from State certified and licensed truck driving school and a minimum of one-year experience commercial driving OR a minimum of three years commercial driving.
β€’ Understanding of DOT regulations and requirements.
β€’ Excellent knowledge and understanding of Metro Detroit routes and streets.
β€’ Must read, write and speak English fluently.
β€’ Strong sense of responsibility and carefulness is required. Must handle receipts, maintenance logs and other paperwork.
