Here is a good tip for beginners, but I use the principles all too often when I am exploring for shots. Clients have often given me a weird look when I walk over to a new space, hold my hand strait out in front of my face and spin in a 360. I asked a canon technician about this at imagingUSA and with a straight face he said "Now what would you need 50mp for? It sounds like a crazy rumor, canon is focused on pixel quality not pixel quantity." Well played sir.
