Special feature from Scott Stamp Monthly: Sgt. Maj. Mike Vining has survived Vietnam, helped build Delta Force, escaped a burning aircraft during Operation Eagle Claw and spent decades as one of the Army’s foremost explosive ordnance specialists.

He also happens to be one heck of a stamp collector.

Vining has collected postal history for more than 60 years, including material tied to nuclear testing, polar expeditions and even military operations in which he personally took part.

The exhibit deadline is Sept. 15, while literature competition applications are due Sept. 19. Chicagopex takes place Nov. 20-22 in Itasca, Ill., with Ameristamp Expo returning for a sixth year.

Linda McCartney’s photography is coming to U.S. postage.

The USPS has added a pane of 20 forever stamps featuring five of McCartney’s photographs to its 2026 stamp program. The stamps will be issued Sept. 25, with a first-day ceremony at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

A new Kwanzaa stamp will make its debut Sept. 23 in Norfolk, Va., during the 111th annual conference of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.

The colorful new design, featuring a father and daughter, will be the 17th U.S. Kwanzaa stamp issued overall. The first-day ceremony is free and open to the public.
