After working for the State government in Albany and assisting with the passage of the New York Farm Winery Bill in 1976, we decided to embark on an adventure - founding and owning our own winery. So we purchased land on the west side of Cayuga Lake, planted vines and were bonded NY Farm Winery #44 in 1982 - one of the first farm wineries in the Finger Lakes region. Seeing how the grapes are grown

and made into wine can be fun as well as an education. We cultivate 11 different varieties on our estate including Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chambourcin, Seyval Blanc, Vignoles, and Marechal Foch. Our son carries this tradition into the next generation.

A group of people came here on Thursday when our tasting room isn't open for anyone to walk in. They made their reservation last February! It was perfect for them and for us. They had their own winery and we were so fortunate to have the time to talk with them. They were full of energy. Their laughter was contagious. And we ended with a photo op. Hopefully they will return.

Last week the NY Wine Policy Institute held Sip & Sample in Albany. Larry and 18 other New York wineries poured sips of our wines for legislators and others to sample. It was sponsored by Senator Michelle Hinchey and Assembly Member Donna Lupardo so winery owners can meet legislators - and so we can show how New York vineyards benefit everyone in the state!

Since our small Estate Winery is open only 2-4 days a week; 6 months of the year we have the opportunity to offer private tastings. Most recently a group of corporate leaders came here for an afternoon of tasting, enjoying their own winery and the space and view from the deck. They were interested in learning more about the wines and vineyard - and we had a wonderful few hours with them. Thank you, Pat, for bringing your colleagues here.

Will you vote for Jazz and Boots? Two, bonded, large black. They love being in the vineyard so one photo is there. Another Boots' head is on Jazz's back. The other one is both of them, holding paws, looking out the deck door.

You can vote for our winery puppers, Jazz and Boots - two bonded black dogs. There are 3 photos. One photo is the two of them standing in front of the Finger Lakes grapevine background - our vineyard. Another is Boots laying his head on Jazz's back. The 3rd is of Jazz and Boots (back to the camera) looking out our deck door holding paws.😃 waiting to go out. Boots is 11 and Jazz is 13 and they love being in the vineyard.
