I know a smoke filled Grand Canyon with minimal visibility wasn’t what Jim and Marie envisioned when they planned their wedding, but I’m here to tell you it was mystical and magical and I cried more than a few times. What a gift this job is when it reunites you with a dear college friend and you get to witness one of the very best days of her life! 💕🙏😭

Thinking of our beautiful Tucson today. We are up in Flagstaff with my parents, but are watching the destruction of the Catalina foothills online and feeling so sad for all the flora, fauna, and people in the fire’s path. Sending good thoughts to everyone who is in harm’s way, especially those working hard to contain the blaze.

It is utterly absurd to post beautiful photos and talk about how pretty everything is while there is so much pain in the world around us. But we do it because we still need beauty and love and hope. I’m going to keep sharing beautiful images in this space, but fortunately Instagram gave us captions to accompany our photos. I’ve hesitated to speak out on this platform about important topics in the past because as business people, there is an old idea that ALL business is good business and we shouldn’t do anything to turn people away from us. But some things are so much more important than a bit of money in my pocket. So if, by speaking out against the murder of George Floyd and the systemic violence against African Americans, I alienate racists or racist-enablers, I’m totally ok with that. We have so much work to do and I think that one really easy thing that those of us who exist in a place of privilege can start with is to use whatever platform we have to identify ourselves as ANTI-racist (and then go on and do the harder work, as well.) So, enjoy the brides, the flowers, the faraway places, but know that person behind those photos is a person who wants change and justice for people of color and is trying hard to do better.

It’s a different kind of Paddy’s Day this year, but I will never let a chance pass to send some love to my second home. Ireland is never far from my mind and missing my home and my friends there is a sort of constant state of being. I’ll be toasting Éire tonight, from my living room. 🍻 Next St. Patrick’s Day will be one for the books, I’m sure!☘️💚☘️

It’s Instagram, of course I have to share THREE of them to make it nice and even! Anyway, this is one of my very favorite frames from this shoot and it’s the perfect way round out this celebration of the magazine release! I love expression, the puddling of the dress on the salt, and the perfection of the blooms in the bouquet with just one little bloom that has broken off and fallen on the salt.
