I work with CEOs, leaders, and managers, who were given little to no training to motivate, encourage, onboard, correct, hire, and fire the right staff. Also, leaders who still struggle with confidence and leading their group! And it's not their fault, they were never trained appropriately. Even sending them out for training programs brings little to no transformation. However, coaching provides ha

nds-on assistance, along with utilizing a"Needs Assessment" for their team to discover exactly what gaps there are in their leader or manager! The season is changing and it's getting a bit cooler so it's time to pull out the jackets. I always tell myself in the winter season, that this just means that spring will be here soon enough, with all the new growth, and birthing of new ideas. You have to leave the dead behind, or at least rake it up and throw things away to make room for planting new things. For me, summer is about to be over, and fall is here. Time to put everything in order! What does the Fall season mean for you, and how do you prepare for it?

Such amazing words by a great woman! Isn't it interesting that when you're thinking of others, you can't be thinking about yourself at the same time!

I believe if more leaders would spend time thinking about how to make their staff successful, especially during the early stages, they'll find their business will begin growing naturally! (Of course, this isn't the only answer, but better than a bandaid approach!)

THURSDAY - ONBOARDING TIPS

ONBOARDING can be energizing, even enjoyable, if you make it so.

1. Learn how to create greater retention and what to avoid so your new employee won’t be triggered and quit by asking:

Tell me what would keep you here?
&
What would make you leave?

2. I know of one company that has each person on a team eat lunch with the new person. Some even take them out to lunch. The purpose is to get to know them.

Now, before you implement this tip, be sure to train your team on how to ask great questions, AND how to LISTEN to understand!

TIP TUESDAY: When speaking with anyone, look at their eyes and see if you can tell the color. When you do this people sense you're paying attention to them. Don't continue holding too long, as then they'll think you're interested in them. However, don't let this stop you, when people feel valued, they perform at their jobs better. Go the second mile, and actually take a minute to ask how they're doing? Or inquire regarding how their mother's surgery went, etc. You'll find leadership will go better for you when you take a minute to CARE!

Discover how your leadership is landing with your team while avoiding the dreaded “FEEDBACK” conversation. Suffice it to say “Forward feedback” evades negative, critical comments, while still uncovering areas where you need improvement.

Asking questions is the key for any leader in finding out what's really going on! I once had a manager all out of sorts. It all made sense once I learned her daughter was very ill and in the hospital.
