🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, I can’t help but reflect on something that has become deeply important to me.
When the Constitutional Convention ended in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a republic or a monarchy?”
His reply has echoed through history:
“A republic, if you can keep it.”
Think about those words.
He didn’t say government would keep it.
He didn’t say politicians would keep it.
He didn’t say the courts would keep it.
He said we must keep it.
The United States Constitution is more than an old document. It is the foundation upon which our freedoms rest. Every elected official, from the President of the United States to governors, legislators, judges, sheriffs, mayors, and countless others, takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution. That oath isn’t to a political party. It isn’t to an agency. It isn’t to a corporation. It is to the Constitution.
And let’s not forget that every state has its own constitution as well.
Too often we complain that our freedoms are disappearing. But sometimes the harder truth is that we have voluntarily surrendered rights we already possess. Rights are easiest to lose when we stop exercising them, stop learning about them, or simply assume someone else will protect them for us.
This isn’t a political statement. It isn’t about Republicans or Democrats. It isn’t about personalities or elections.
It’s about We the People.
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
If you’ve never read the United States Constitution, I encourage you to do so. Read your state’s constitution too. Learn what your rights are. Understand the principles that have guided this nation for nearly 250 years.

We are blessed to be alive for this historic milestone. None of us will be here for America’s 500th birthday. That means this generation has a unique responsibility to preserve liberty for those who come after us.
Freedom isn’t self-sustaining. It requires informed citizens, personal responsibility, and a willingness to protect the principles that make self-government possible.
So this Independence Day, let’s celebrate not only our nation’s history, but our responsibility to its future.
