If you have been keeping up with the trends, you probably remember how millennials were going off about "Friends" being full of offensive jokes and storylines. But that is in the past now, this generation is currently saying similar things about "Seinfeld."

Start getting your tax information organized and to your tax preparer as soon as possible. Don’t plan on extended due dates this year.

The IRS is short-staffed due to the pandemic. It's best to file your taxes electronically with direct deposit as early as January 24 to avoid delays.

These times have generated a variety of emotions in us. They include fear, frustration, loneliness, and boredom on one end. It has also given us an opportunity to reassess things in our lives and a chance to make needed changes. I know that is what I have gotten most out of the past two months. This applies to each of us both personally and professionally. We likely should have learned how important it is to be involved as a community, which includes reaching out to friends and family that may be in need. As we begin to open back up, be sure to thank the “essential workers” and the people that have helped you through the unprecedented crazy times. Even though we will likely be wearing masks for a while, smile at one another. When you smile, you can see it in your eyes as well. Take some time every day to do something fun, even if it is something small. Strive to take a little better care of yourself physically, mentally, and financially. Build yourself a financial cushion of a few months living expenses so you aren’t reliant on the government to get you through some tough times. If you are anything like me, you get caught up in daily life and keep putting that kind of stuff aside.

More than anything else....LIVE! Look at the beauty of the world we live in. Reach out to friends you may have lost track of. Sit in your front yard and engage with people taking walks rather than confining yourself to your secluded backyard. Let’s all make a commitment to make the world better than where we left it two months ago. And finally, don’t live in fear. We are only on the face of the earth temporarily, so make the most of it.

If there is anything Meyers Business Consulting can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask. I have assembled a team of financial consultants that can meet nearly any financial need.

And finally, don’t forget to “pay it forward”. Enjoy life while you can!

Helping Sara celebrate her 22nd birthday on Saturday. I did manage to beat her in an abbreviated game of beer pong while taking a short break from tax returns. She has been a tremendous help this year and I’m hoping she sticks with Meyers Business Consulting for a long time. Thank you Sara!

Working hard this Saturday before Christmas! We’re making sure our clients’ year end accounting needs are met. Contact us if we can be of any help regarding tax planning for 2017 and 2018. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a great 2018!

Sara and I wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. With all of the excitement the holiday season brings, don't forget to think about what you can do between now and the end of the year to plan for your 2017 income taxes. While the Senate and House dicker over the impending changes in tax law, generally it should work to your advantage to defer income to 2018 and accelerate deductions into 2017. Keep in mind, that as you plan for year end chartiable giving, Arizona residents can save state income taxes by giving to organizations that qualify for one of the various tax credits. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A gorgeous day in Tucson, Arizona. Thanksgiving not only tells us it is time to think about year end income tax planning and the upcoming filing season, but it is also time to be grateful for the important things in our lives. Like our family, our friends, our freedom and the opportunity to live in this great country. There is plenty we can find fault with, but tell me where there is a better place to live. If you can find one, I may look into moving there.

Meyers Business Consulting also happens to have one of the best employees I have ever worked with, Sara Johnson. We are grateful for our wonderful clients and look forward to serving you.

The one other thing I am always grateful for, is the 15 years I got to be a member at Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach. I had the opportunity to share that experience with my family and many friends and also the chance to make many friends while I was visiting there. It was a true blessing. Thank you Chris Clark for making that opportunity present itself.
