These times have generated a variety of emotions in us. They include fear, frustration, loneliness, and boredom on one end. It has also given us an opportunity to reassess things in our lives and a chance to make needed changes. I know that is what I have gotten most out of the past two months. This applies to each of us both personally and professionally. We likely should have learned how important it is to be involved as a community, which includes reaching out to friends and family that may be in need. As we begin to open back up, be sure to thank the “essential workers” and the people that have helped you through the unprecedented crazy times. Even though we will likely be wearing masks for a while, smile at one another. When you smile, you can see it in your eyes as well. Take some time every day to do something fun, even if it is something small. Strive to take a little better care of yourself physically, mentally, and financially. Build yourself a financial cushion of a few months living expenses so you aren’t reliant on the government to get you through some tough times. If you are anything like me, you get caught up in daily life and keep putting that kind of stuff aside.
More than anything else....LIVE! Look at the beauty of the world we live in. Reach out to friends you may have lost track of. Sit in your front yard and engage with people taking walks rather than confining yourself to your secluded backyard. Let’s all make a commitment to make the world better than where we left it two months ago. And finally, don’t live in fear. We are only on the face of the earth temporarily, so make the most of it.
