Tucson Environmental Services

Tucson Environmental Services Go to https://www.tucsonaz.gov/environmental-services for more. Tucson recycles shredded paper, from your home or office.

The Mission of the Environmental Services Department is to promote a healthy Tucson community by providing innovative and effective waste management and environmental protection services. Did you know that virtually all magazines, catalogs and mail — including envelopes with plastic windows — can be recycled? When you purchase bottled water to take with you, remember to bring it back home and toss

it in your blue barrel. Just remember to put it in a clear plastic bag with a tie, so we can see what’s inside. We’ll recycle the paper and throw away the plastic bag, which reminds us...

Remember, plastic grocery and garbage bags CANNOT be recycled in your blue barrel — EVER! Take them to your local grocery store instead. See the newest list of recyclables here: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/recycle

The City of Tucson Environmental Services Department is proud to recognize James Moore for going above and beyond his regular duties to help a community member during a potentially deadly situation.

On Monday afternoon, Moore was called in as a substitute operator on his day off. He was servicing the Garden District when a woman stopped him for help. She had found an elderly resident who had fallen outside his home. She was unable to get him up on her own, and Moore immediately stopped to assist. Together, they helped the resident off the ground, to carry and support him to the doorway of his home where he could safely sit while emergency assistance was called.

The resident was later found to have a body temperature of 104 degrees. Moore's actions are a reminder that public service extends beyond the daily work of collecting trash and recycling and keeping Tucson clean. Environmental Services employees are out in neighborhoods across the city every day, and sometimes being there for the community means answering an unexpected call to help.

The Garden District Neighborhood shared its appreciation for James and asked that he be recognized for his actions.

Thank you, James for representing Environmental Services!
