🌱 Spring is here — and so is the perfect time to brush up on cylinder safety.
As warmer weather arrives, more projects kick off, equipment comes out of storage, and compressed gas cylinders are back in action. Before the busy season gets into full swing, make sure your team knows the CGA P-1 standards for safe cylinder handling.
☀️ Spring safety checklist:
✅ Inspect cylinders that have been in storage — check for dents, corrosion, or damage
✅ Verify all labels are legible before use
✅ Re-secure cylinders that may have shifted during winter storage
✅ Check that valve protection caps are in place
✅ Confirm storage temps stay below 125°F as outdoor heat climbs
Compressed gas pressure is present at ALL times — season changes don't change that.
At Meritus Great Plains, safety isn't just a standard — it's how we do business. Whether you're with Tulsa Gas & Gear, Hohenschild, or City Carbonic, we're here to make sure you have the right products, the right knowledge, and the right support.
📋 5 things every cylinder user is responsible for (per P-1):
1️⃣ Make no modifications to cylinders or equipment
2️⃣ Read and protect all labels
3️⃣ Secure cylinders during storage, transport & use
4️⃣ Know the hazards — pressure, cold, flammable, toxic, asphyxiant, corrosive
5️⃣ Report any damage or leaks to your supplier immediately
Stay safe this spring. 🌿
