Usually, no, and it's not a knock on your IT provider.

Most general IT providers are built to manage office networks: laptops, email, file servers. Your production line runs on a separate set of systems (OT) that need a different approach entirely, because a standard IT reboot or patch can be far riskier on a live production system.

You don't necessarily need to replace your IT provider. You need someone who also understands the plant floor side and can bridge the two.
