Save the date and join us and our partners Black Warrior Riverkeeper for our next litter pickup Saturday, September 6th, 8:30-11 a.m. at the Roebuck Golf Course!

Unique to Birmingham, the federally endangered Watercress Darter fish displays spectacular colors during mating season and lives in five local streams, including Roebuck Springs at Roebuck Golf Course. Storm runoff can be a major issue leading to litter in our waterways, so help us clean up to protect the darter before our Darter Scramble golf fundraiser 9/18!

Register on our website at aeconline.org/events!

📍Roebuck Golf Course, 8920 Roebuck Blvd., Birmingham, AL 35206

We’ll be meeting at 8:30 a.m. for a brief safety talk and to get everyone the supplies they need.

Safety: This event will take place along the roadside in an area that may not have sidewalks, so please only sign up if you feel comfortable with this.

What we encourage volunteers to wear/bring:

• Comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting a little wet or dirty (preferably long pants)
• Closed-toed shoes
• Water
• Sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen)

What we will provide:

• Garbage bags
• Gloves
• Litter Pickers
• Safety vests

Thank you to all the families whose family members fought for our freedoms and didn't come home. Think about it this weekend while we gather together and enjoy our freedoms. Freedom is not FREE. Someone gave it all so that we might have a weekend that we celebrate. It might be a good time to recycle and not trash our environment. It's not our Earth. It was created for us to use while we are here. Let's take care of it and leave it better than we came into it. Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day Weekend.

Today is Earth Day - This year's Earth Day theme is "Our Power, Our Planet," which calls for people to unite around renewable energy. The coldest parts of our planet act like giant mirrors, reflecting the sun's energy back to space.

Keep The Shoals Beautiful has several events to clean up the shoals.
Take Pride in the area and help clean it and keep it clean.

Recycle Every Day and keep it out of the landfill.
