I am passionate about birth and when I'm not being mommy to my kiddos, it is my goal to help as many families as I can, experience the same kind of joy and empowerment I did when I gave birth to my precious little ones. My journey to becoming a doula and birth educator began when I was trying to conceive my first child, realizing after much research, that giving birth as peacefully and gently as p
ossible, with as few interventions as possible, was the right path for me. When I became pregnant with my daughter, my feelings and desires for birth empowerment grew stronger, and owning my experience was paramount, as I knew it would be the story I'd tell and retell the rest of my life. I wanted the people around me, and supporting me, to be partners in my journey, to reinforce the confidence I was fostering and to give the full respect that I knew my baby and I needed and deserved in this very precious time for us. After choosing the right care providers for me, next I knew that I wanted to take a birth education course, and after discovering Hypnobabies, I knew that I'd also found the right program. It connected to my inner feelings that birth was beautiful and something to be enjoyed, that it wasn't the scary, horrible and just "something to get through" ordeal it was commonly made out to be. Hypnobabies spoke to my inner mind's knowledge that my body knows how to give birth and that I am strong, capable and powerful. They were exactly the affirmations that I needed to hear, over and over, to guide me along my way to my baby's birth-day. I was faced with many questions and raised eyebrows when approached about my pregnancy and birth choices, and I quickly found that I was becoming a natural childbirth advocate; educating anyone that might be interested. I had always felt deep down that I was meant to do something important, something meaningful and life changing, but it took this monumental time in my life to fully realize where my voice was strongest and would be the most effective. It wasn't long after my daughter Gianna's birth that the pull to help other pregnant and birthing women grew strong, and there was no denying that I had to shift gears and find a career where my passion was pulling me. Becoming a doula and birth educator were a natural fit for me, and as soon as my daughter was old enough, I took the DONA doula training course. It wasn't long after that, that I realized that I wanted to teach as well, and naturally, teaching Hypnobabies was a no-brainer. It did so much for me, why wouldn't I want to help other women feel as empowered as I did? So here I am, more than 6 years after my daughter's birth, a second child, my son Ryan, added to my brood, and my career is being realized. I've attended a nearly 2 dozen births as a doula, I'm beyond thrilled and honored to help expecting couples, as their doula and their teacher (sometimes both!), learn how to have, and experience, empowered, easier and joyous birthings.
