Propolis: The Quintessential Bee Medicine
We look to the bees as the first alchemists, wise in the medicine ways and shaped by evolving in symbiotic relationship with plants for 100 million years.
The body of a honeybee has no immune system. The immune health of the colony is entirely built into the wax structure of the hive through propolis. The walls of their temple city are a shield of medicine that protects them.
The immune system of plants is expressed through resins that bees gather, mostly from sticky leaf buds and bark of poplars, willows, and conifer trees.
