This image is from a past John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. (Last year, there was not enough snow to run the race. ) The Sawbill checkpoint is an up-bound, mandatory stop during the race. Visitors are welcome to see the teams at this checkpoint, but must remember to be courteous to the resting mushers and teams. We just happen to catch this dog awake while the team was resting.
