Texas A&M Forest Service has raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 2 as the potential for wildfire activity is expected to increase in areas with rainfall deficits, such as the Rolling Plains, High Plains and South Texas, where high temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation is contributing to elevated risk.

Yesterday, our firefighters responded to 8 wildfires that burned 1,466.7 acres.

Active Fires
Holden, Aransas County - 36 acres and 95% contained
Calpine, Bosque County - 7 acres and 90% contained
Brushy Creek, Burnet County - 29.5 acres and 90% contained
Getaway Pens, Dickens County - 1,000 acres and 30% contained
Cusenbarry Draw, Sutton County - 1,200 acres and 25% contained

We continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to respond to any requests for assistance.

We need your help! We are down to our last few cases of water bottles and that will not last us through the summer! If you can help your local department with water, Gatorade, electrolyte packets, or even small snacks, your donation will help our firefighters stay hydrated and nourished throughout the event of a fire. We have a couple members at the station today (501 N st) for the remainder of most of the evening, otherwise message us and someone can meet you at the station. Thank you for your help and continuing to support your local fire department. Everyone be safe this weekend and have a great time!
