Using old tubs, shoe boxes, ziplocks, etc is a great temporary solution in the organization process. It saves you from unnecessary purchases ahead of the process, allows you some time to see if a system will work for you, and then gives you structure while you find something pretty or maybe just the right fit for the space.

This client plans to get some cute opaque baskets to hide what’s inside them, but for now, these tubs will do! Labels will help her build the habit she wants to put in place going forward.

Observing your space and how it’s currently used is important in deciding what purpose you want for the future. Habits, systems, routines, and how spaces are used can all be changed. Take the time to consider what’s working, what isn’t, and what would make your home and routines flow better.

For this space, our client needed dedicated counter space for often used appliances. We cleared adjacent cabinets for the ingredients and supplies and it made a world of difference!

Helping clients decide on their priorities is one of ours! This client decided she wanted to spend our session working mainly in her craft room. We cleared the trash, sorted her supplies, and created a path to her beautiful collection of boots. Now she has a place for her craft supplies and an accessible way to store and display her favorite footwear.

Baskets can serve as drawers on open shelves! And don’t underestimate the power of labels- they can help speed the process of finding and putting away by reducing the amount of brain power needed to accomplish the task!

Clutter can be very personal, but it is NOT your identity.

Clutter often involves an emotional burden: guilt over money wasted or regret over not getting rid of items held onto from previous seasons of life.
