BBB Hosts Free “Shred Day” in Lindale & Longview
Tyler, TX –Better Business Bureau serving Central East Texas (BBB) will be hosting two “Shred Day” events on October 10th, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in Lindale and on October 24th from 9:00 AM untl Noon in Longview
Lindale Location: Lillie Russell Memorial Library (200 E Hubbard St, Lindale, TX 75771)
Longview Location: Austin Bank (911 NW Loop 281, Longview, TX 75604)
The services are provided FREE and attendees are encouraged to bring paper documents that contain personal and/or financial information to be destroyed. Organizers request that attendees bring their documents in plastic bags. Cardboard boxes will not be taken.
“We want to give businesses and the community the opportunity to safely discard any documents that contain personal information,” said Coleman Swierc, Communications Manager for BBB serving Central East Texas. “This is a quick and easy way to make sure your information is not compromised and we are so happy to offer the services to consumers and businesses across East Texas.”
BBB held two “Shred Day” events in the Spring, in Tyler and Jacksonville, which totaled more than 42,000 pounds of documents being destroyed.
Shredder trucks and volunteers will be on hand to assist participants and hand out information on identity theft protection. Volunteers will be using recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
BBB has partnered with Ark-La-Tex Shredding, Lindale Chamber of Commerce, Austin Bank and Kelly Community Federal Credit Union to bring these events to the public, FREE of charge.
All attendees must remain in their vehicles during the event.
BBB Serving Central East Texas is part of an expansive network of BBBs across North America that collaborate to produce Secure Your ID Day events. The program is a BBB-branded identity theft, fraud prevention and educational initiative that features on-site document destruction and distribution of identity protection tips and resources to local communities.
