God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
God bless America, my home sweet home!

Let's talk about the Orange Peel tool! Just like all blocks, it is reverse applique and comes in Large and Small. It's all about the arrangement of the blocks!

The Quilters Guild of East Texas is thrilled to announce the theme for our 2026 Quilt Show: Stitched in the Stars: Celebrating 250 Years of American Quilting & Creativity.

The year 2026 marks the United States Semiquincentennial — 250 years since our nation’s founding. What better way to celebrate than with the timeless art of quilting, a craft that has been part of American life since the very beginning? Our theme highlights both the beauty of star quilts, inspired by our stunning Lone Star raffle quilt, and the enduring creativity of quilters across generations.

This show will feature special exhibits, including:

The Star-Spangled Challenge – This year's challenge we are encouraging members to create quilts inspired by star patterns or patriotic themes. Download the challenge form here.
American Quilts Through the Ages – We are seeking quilts that represent historical styles and innovations over the past 250 years. If you’d like to be a part of this display please send a photo and a description to [email protected].
Mark your calendars now and plan on attending April 24 & 25, 2026. Additional details will be shared soon, but in the meantime, start dreaming up your entries, and join us in making this a spectacular celebration of quilting and creativity.

Tickets to the 2026 Quilt Show available online and at a discount!

Ticket Pricing:

Today's quilt is a Birthday medallion quilt! The center Dresden windows are filled with birthday and celebration fabrics and have flames at the end of each "candle". There are Pinwheel blocks, blocks from a birthday panel, borders and appliqued birthday hats. Also, look for Yo-Yo's, Prairie Points and Ric-Rac. (I love those!)

Why a birthday quilt today? It's my husband, Doug Pitts, birthday! The grandkids call him Hoot. (I'm Annie! Together, we are Hoot & Annie.) Wish him happy birthday, he will love it!
