✨Did you know? 🤔

October includes both Hispanic Heritage Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a meaningful time to recognize the Latina medical professionals who are making a difference through both expertise and cultural connection. 🎀❤️

Angelis Vazquez, Lucy Maria de la Cruz, and Jennifer Son are Latina breast surgical oncologists whose work at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, where it has been highlighted for the way they incorporate language, culture, empathy, and trust into the care they provide to Latina breast cancer patients.

Representation in healthcare matters. When patients feel understood, medically, culturally, and linguistically — it can help build stronger relationships and more compassionate care.

This month, we celebrate Latina excellence in medicine while also reminding women everywhere of the importance of breast health, awareness, and early detection.

📚❤️ Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Through Literacy, Leadership & Culture! 🌎✨

What an incredible week at Owens Elementary School! 📖

October 5–9 marked our second consecutive year of bringing community leaders, business professionals, and volunteers into classrooms to share stories celebrating Hispanic heritage, traditions, and culture!

“As an Owens Elementary PTA mom and President & CEO of the Tyler Hispanic Business Alliance, it was especially meaningful to help organize this initiative after being invited to support this wonderful effort. We reached out to our amazing community leaders, and they answered the call!” - HBA President Rangel

🌟 A HUGE THANK YOU to every volunteer who took time out of their busy schedules to read to our students! Your willingness to give back, share your time, and invest in the next generation means more than you know.

📚 A very special THANK YOU to Owens Elementary librarian, Mrs. Ginn, for inviting us to be part of this meaningful initiative and allowing the Tyler HBA to help bring our community together in support of literacy and learning!

❤️ We believe that when children see community leaders investing in their education, we inspire them to dream bigger and recognize the possibilities ahead.

Music is one of the most joyful expressions of our heritage. 🎶❤️

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the rhythms, sounds, and traditions that bring our cultures to life. From mariachi and salsa to cumbia, merengue, bolero, tejano, bachata, and reggaetón, music carries the stories, joy, pride, and spirit of our communities across generations.

Our heritage has a rhythm.
Nuestra herencia tiene ritmo.
