We would like to give a huge, heartfelt thank you to the community of Underwood!

Because of everyone who donated baked goods, purchased from the bake sale, and simply showed up to support the cause, we were able to give the Eslinger family a sizable donation.

It’s truly amazing to see our community come together and support our own when they need it most. We are incredibly grateful for every person who played a part in making this possible.

Thank you, Underwood, for showing once again what an amazing community we have! 🚒❤️

I think it’s safe to say Fun with Firefighters was a HUGE hit again this year! 🚒💦🥳

Our foam pit was once again full of smiles, giggles, and some very happy kids! And those who won prizes looked pretty happy too! 🎉

We also want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who baked and donated to our bake sale today. ❤️ Almost everything sold, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

And, as always, a special thank you to all of our department members who chose to volunteer their time to help make this event happen. It takes a lot of people behind the scenes to pull something like this off, and we appreciate each and every one of you more than you know. ❤️

Thank you to our amazing community for continuing to show up and support us. We had a blast with all of you and can’t wait to do it all again next year! 🚒🔥

The bakers in our lives have been VERY busy this week! 🧁🍪

A huge thank you to Angie and Cassie for all the time, effort, and love you’ve poured into baking for tomorrow’s event. We even had an extra set of tiny helping hands—Finn stepped up as our official Quality Control Supervisor (and by “quality control,” we mean making sure everything tasted delicious! 😉).

Don’t forget to join us tomorrow for our Annual Fun with Firefighters! We’ll have our bake sale, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Eslinger family as they recover from the loss of their home.

Come hungry, bring the family, and help us support a great cause. We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow! 🚒❤️🧁

🔥🌫️ Mother Nature is being a little dramatic today… 🌫️🔥

Yes, it’s smoky.
Yes, the air quality is less than fabulous.
And NO — there are currently no fires in our area that we are aware of! 🚒

🔥 McLean County is currently in MODERATE fire danger, while some of our neighboring counties are under Red Flag Warnings.

So while we’re not in the danger zone just yet, please stay safe with anything that sparks, burns, or smolders. 🔥

🌫️ With the poor air quality, take it easy outside—especially kids, older adults, and anyone sensitive to smoke.

Basically…
Don’t start fires. Don’t breathe more smoke than you have to. And please don’t give us a reason to come visit you with the big red trucks. 😂🚒

🧁 New this year: We'll also have a bake sale benefiting the Eslinger family to help them recover after the loss of their home in a fire.

Today, as we gathered with Underwood Ambulance Service and McLean County Sheriff's Office for training, we were paged out to an actual structure fire. It was incredible to see everyone come together, working seamlessly as a team to keep everyone safe and do everything possible to minimize the damage.

Every firefighter and responder involved went home safe tonight, and that's because of the teamwork, dedication, and professionalism shown by everyone on scene.

A special thank you to the Garrison ND Fire Department for your assistance today. We truly appreciate your support and partnership.

Finally, to the family who suffered the loss of your home, our hearts are with you. We are deeply sorry there wasn't more that could be done. While things can be replaced, we're incredibly grateful that you and your loved ones are safe tonight. Wishing you strength and support as you begin to rebuild.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29, Underwood Volunteer Fire & Rescue will be conducting a full-scale training exercise near City Hall in conjunction with Underwood Ambulance Service and local law enforcement.

Training will begin around 4:00 PM and continue for several hours. You may notice emergency vehicles, personnel, and simulated emergency activity in the area.

Please don't be alarmed—this is only a training exercise designed to help our agencies work together and better serve our community.

🚗 Today's the day! Come out to the Underwood Midsummer Classic Car Show and stop by to see the crew!

We'll have burgers and Underwood Volunteer Fire & Rescue T-shirts available for a free-will donation. We'll be here until supplies run out, so come early!
