Here we are again talking about quality repairs. Remember a while back i said poor work means your mower ends up in the shop again? This repair lasted a year. In the photos you can see the difference between my repair and the other guys. How long do you think mine will last? Almost forgot dont harp on my welds to much, my welder was being a Karen today. It will hold thats all that matters

“Premium gas makes every mower run better.”
❌ MYTH
✅ FACT: Most small engines are designed to run on regular 87 octane fuel. Higher octane doesn’t mean “better gas” — it just resists pre-ignition in engines built for higher compression.
For the average push mower, zero turn, trimmer, or blower, premium fuel usually won’t give you more power or make it run better.
What actually matters more? ✔️ Fresh fuel
✔️ Clean air filter
✔️ Proper maintenance
✔️ Using fuel that doesn’t sit too long
Now, if your manufacturer specifically calls for premium or you’re using ethanol-free fuel for storage reasons, that’s different.
💬 What do you run in your equipment — regular or premium?

Myth of the Day 🔧
Myth: “If you sharpen mower blades razor sharp, the grass will cut better.”
Truth: Mower blades are not supposed to be knife sharp. A blade that’s too sharp loses its edge faster and can actually dull quickly from sticks, dirt, and debris. Small engine mower blades are designed to have a durable cutting edge — not a paper-slicing edge.
A properly balanced blade with a solid edge cuts far better than an over-sharpened one.
Pro Tip:
Think “butter knife sharp,” not “kitchen knife sharp.”

🛑MYTH OF THE DAY🛑: “Ethanol gas destroys small engines.”
Truth is… ethanol usually isn’t the main problem.
What actually kills a lot of small engines is: • Old fuel sitting too long
• Poor storage habits
• Water contamination
• Dirty fuel cans
• No fuel stabilizer during storage
Yes, ethanol can attract moisture and cause issues over time, especially in equipment that sits for months. But most modern engines run just fine on E10 when the fuel is fresh and the equipment is maintained properly.
A few simple habits can save you a lot of headaches: ✔ Use fresh fuel
✔ Add stabilizer if equipment will sit
✔ Avoid E15+ unless the engine allows it
✔ Drain or shut off fuel for long-term storage
✔ Keep fuel cans clean and sealed
Don’t just throw parts at a machine — fuel quality and storage matter more than most people realize.
What’s your opinion on ethanol fuel? Have you had good or bad experiences with it?

🚨 Small Engine Myth of the Day 🚨
❌ MYTH:
“If it starts, it’s running fine.”
✅ TRUTH:
A mower or small engine can start and still have serious issues hiding underneath. Weak compression, dirty carburetors, bad fuel flow, valve problems, or worn belts can all let an engine run while slowly causing power loss, overheating, hard starting, or expensive damage later on.
A lot of people wait until the machine completely quits before servicing it — and that usually costs more in the long run.
🔧 Regular maintenance and proper diagnostics catch problems before they leave you stranded halfway through the yard.
Don’t ignore: • Surging
• Smoking
• Hard starts
• Loss of power
• Excessive vibration
• Strange noises
Your equipment will usually warn you before it fails completely.

🛑Don't throw parts at the problem!🛑 💸One of the biggest myths in small engine repair is that a mower that won't start automatically needs a new carburetor. While the carb is often the culprit, jumping to that conclusion can cost you time and money you didn't need to spend. Before you buy a new one, check the basics:✅ Is the gas fresh? (Gas older than 30 days is a common killer!)✅ Is the spark plug fouled?✅ Is the air filter clogged?

Did a repair on an electric mower like the one pictured this week. It Came in with a no run, only battery lights problem. after testing ohms through switchs It came down to a somewhat hidden broken safety lever at the base of the handle bars. A 14 dollar lever from ebay saved this customer 100+ dollars on a new handle bar assembly. Again this is why its important to have someone that does quality work and knows where to look for parts. Any parts slinger would have seen the part wasn't sold by itself and charged for a new handle assembly, this customer was charged a 70 dollar repair with about a week and a half down time due to ordering the part. Still cheaper and faster then most shops around. As always thank you for the business folks SmallEngineRepair, , ,

Good early morning, folks. I normally don’t speak much about other people’s work, but I’ve started noticing a concerning trend in the small engine repair world.
A lot of people are offering repairs by simply throwing parts at equipment instead of properly diagnosing the problem first. Not only can that cost you more money in the long run, but it also creates more downtime when the real issue never gets fixed. I’m also seeing a lot of cheap, low-quality parts being used.
I’m not against aftermarket parts at all — some are great — but you have to do your research and make sure you’re using quality components.
I’m not saying you have to choose me, but whoever you trust with your equipment, make sure they take the time to properly diagnose and repair it instead of just being a “parts slinger.”
If you’re paying $40 for a repair, there’s a good chance that equipment may end up in another shop before long. Save yourself the trouble and invest in quliety work , , ,
