That is the part we do not always talk about.

Healing costs.
Discipline costs.

Growth costs.
Fitness costs.
Financial rebuilding costs.
Letting go of excuses costs.
Changing your habits costs.
But staying the same costs too.

There is a cost to being stagnant, unhappy, unhealthy, stuck, and disconnected from the life you know you are called to live.

So the question becomes: which cost are you willing to pay?

Don’t let your current circumstances become the prison you trap yourself in.

I thought healing would come with more space.

I thought once the relationship ended, there would be more balance, more breathing room, and more time to rebuild, rediscover myself, pursue my goals, and simply live.

But my reality did not look like that.

When I got separated and divorced, none of my kids were in school. I was home with six babies, carrying a lot, and trying to figure out how to heal, rebuild, and find myself again in the middle of it all.

It was not the perfect circumstance.

But with God’s help, little by little, I started putting the pieces together.

And that is what I want to encourage you with: you may not have the time, the money, the support, the space, or the ideal situation right now — but do not let where you are convince you that you cannot still become.

Life can get smoother.
Things can shift.

But you have to keep going.

Don’t let what hurt you harden the heart God gave you.
I know that is not always easy.

There are some things you go through that could make you bitter. There are moments where people may look at your life and say, “If I were you, I would have handled that differently.”

But I know the heart God gave me. I know the purpose He placed on my life. And I know that for what I am called to do, I cannot allow pain, disappointment, betrayal, or hard seasons to make me lose the loving part of me.

That does not mean you do not have boundaries.
That does not mean you let people mistreat you.
That does not mean you pretend nothing hurt.

It means you protect your heart enough to not let life turn you into someone you were never called to be.

God can give you beauty for ashes.

So keep going, keep believing, keep healing, and do not let your circumstances pause your becoming.

If you listened to Episode 3, thank you. 💗

In the episode, I talked about how I thought healing meant getting back to myself, but I realized I had to redefine myself.

But there’s one more thing I wanted to share.

Redefining yourself sounds empowering, but it also comes with grief.
Sometimes you have to grieve the version of you who had more time.
The version of you who thought life would look different.
The version of motherhood, partnership, support, and identity you imagined.
The version of you who thought healing would come with more space.

For me, becoming her meant accepting that I could not wait for the perfect conditions to become myself again.

In this Just One More Thing segment, I’m sharing the part of redefining myself that felt more emotional than I expected — letting go of the life I imagined so I could start building from the life I actually had.

"I became amazing at every role except being me."
That line is the heart of Episode 3.

Because sometimes you do not lose yourself overnight. Sometimes you lose yourself slowly while being needed, while carrying responsibility, while becoming a mother, while being a partner, while showing up for everyone else.

And then one day, you sit with yourself and realize you have to ask basic questions all over again.

What do I like?
What makes me happy?
What do I want?
Who am I now?

This episode is about redefining myself after life changed me.

You do not always have to “get back” to who you used to be.

Sometimes healing means redefining who you are now.

Start small.
Ask yourself what you like.
Find your voice again.
Create routines that support you.
Protect your peace.
Do one thing that feels like you.

This week’s episode of I’m Not the Girl I Used to Be Podcast is all about redefining yourself after getting lost in the roles, responsibilities, and seasons that required so much from you.

You are still allowed to become. 💗

Episode THREEE is live 🎙️🙈🤎
This solo episode was personal.

I talked about how I thought healing meant getting back to myself, but I realized I could not just go back to who I was before motherhood, marriage, responsibility, and survival.

The gap was too big.
I had to redefine myself.

I had to ask myself who I was outside of being a mom, a wife, a creator, a provider, a friend, and the person who always had to figure things out.
I had to find my voice again.
I had to rebuild financially.
I had to create routines that supported me, not just the roles I carried.
I had to remember what I liked, what I wanted, and who I was becoming.

This episode is for every woman who has been amazing at showing up for everybody else, but is finally learning how to show up for herself too.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish.
It is self-love.

One thing I learned on this journey is that you can pour, pour, pour into everybody and everything else, but if you never fill yourself back up, eventually you will feel depleted, burnt out, stressed, stuck, and disconnected from your own life.

For me, redefining myself meant creating routines that supported me too.

Not just my role as a mother.
Not just my responsibilities.
Not just what everybody else needed from me.

Me.

Even in seasons where all the kids were home, even when I didn’t have the space I wished I had, I had to create small moments to breathe, journal, reset, and feel like myself again.
It may not start off looking exactly how you want it to, but start somewhere.

You deserve to be poured into too.

If you feel like you don’t even know where to start when it comes to finding yourself again, start small.

Ask yourself simple questions:
Who am I now?
What do I like?
What do I enjoy?
What brings me joy?
What makes me feel peaceful?
What am I interested in?
What do I like to watch?
What makes me feel like me?

Sometimes we think redefining ourselves has to start with some huge life change, but sometimes it starts with getting curious about yourself again.

I had to go on a whole quest to learn MaHogany again — even down to the little things.

And those little things matter because they help you reconnect with the woman underneath all the roles, responsibilities, and survival.

Episode 3 is live 🎙️💗

This solo episode is about realizing that healing did not mean getting back to the old me — it meant redefining who I was.

I talked about motherhood, losing myself in the roles I carried, finding my voice again, rebuilding financially, creating routines that supported me, and learning how to be MaHogany again.

Because the truth is, I became amazing at being every role except being me.
If you’ve ever felt like you lost yourself in responsibility, motherhood, relationships, or survival, this episode is for you.
