Forward Movement.
Your goal in the Engine is to take back real estate the fire has over taken, and move forward. Remember is not easier said than done. If we position our people properly this should be a compatible task. The place where ANYONE moving a hose line , no matter the size, through a compartmented building is the TURN.
If staffing always to have an assigned Back Up FF or of staffing forces say the Boss to be in that position; we have to move with the turn. Get as much line as we can forward. Then when the nozzle takes the turn, that back up FF need to move up to that turn and ensure the coupling clears, and keep feeding line.
Let’s face we’re all waiting for hose line we called for in years past. It’s pure discipline to in this position. While in think turns, and communicate. Give it a try in training and understand the difference between stretching dry vs charged.
