Investigators tip- Always be aware of your surroundings when using an ATM machine always try to use one in the lobby of a well traveled bank. Never use portable ones unless absolutely neccessary. before using a machine always give the entire area a lookover check for loose plastic or exposed screws on the machine as they can be card readers and hidden cameras recording your PIN. always cover your hand while punching keys and be aware of anyone else in the area of the machine

Investigators tip- Cell phones are the new laptops each year we rely on them more and more, If you are recieving odd text messages or emails, If your phone is turning itself on It may be infected with spyware. cell phone spyware can enable someone to listen in to your calls read your texts and emails at anytime and you will never know. Best to have the phone checked if you're unsure!

Investigators tip- to find out about someones background there are hundreds of instant web sites that claim for a few dollars they can tell you someones history. Theyre scams, they use incomplete data bases full of records that are not updated regularly. for instance if you want to check someones criminal record in N.Y. it will cost no less than 100 dollars. Why? the state charges almost 90 just to check the record, and its not easily accessed by the public. Sometimes you get what you pay for!

Investigators tip- identity thieves don't need your social security number to impersonate you many times it's only a matter of a date and place of birth. check out this site http://www.birthdatabase.com/query.php, if you are on there i would say remove it. they will do it however you may reappear at a later time so maybe checking once or twice a year couldn't hurt!

Investigators tip- try to control what is visible to bad guys on the web. with little information they can do alot of damage. check out http://www.zabasearch.com/ look yourself up if you don't feel comfortable with what you see, follow the directions and get it removed. its not easy but they will comply.
