Current reads 👀
1. Sirens of Mars by Sarah Stewart Johnson. When we were flying home from Michigan, I made a friend in the airport named Avi. They were sitting across from me, reading, and I felt instantly connected to them. We exchanged books and addresses, so not only did I receive this cool book, but now we’re penpals, too! This book makes my brain do all of the work, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it while I take it slow. I don’t remember much from any / all of my science classes. 🤷‍♀️ there’s a lot of new-to-me concepts, words, and ideas in this book that make me slow down and go on side quests to fully absorb what I’m reading.

2. Telephone by Percival Everett. A lot of readers talk about his book, James, which I have NOT read (yet). I SUPER enjoyed his book, Erasure, and if you haven’t picked it up yet, here’s your sign. The way this man writes is a pure work of art, for real, y’all. Erasure has settled into my soul, and I still think about the wildness of that book today. Some dark academia s**t while amplifying the black voice and black stereotype. Just, wow. Very excited to read this book - it’s been on my home shelf for a while.

3. Vegetables in Underwear by James Chapman. Our 3 and 4 year old are obsessed with this book, and rightfully so - this s**t is hilarious 😆 while Cosmo transitions from baby wearing diapers to dude wearing underwear (potty training has been a… journey), this book has helped to provide the confidence he’s looking for in getting on that potty. As simple as it is, it’s helping immensely.

What’re y’all reading? What’s on your list? What can we search for and shelve for ya? Holler! 🙌🏽

A customer recently told Tory about a used bookstore in Terrytown that supposedly closed years ago after the owner passed away.

According to the story, the books are still inside.
Now, we have absolutely no idea if that’s true.
We don’t know who owns the building.
We don’t know what happened to the inventory.
We don’t know if the books are still there.
What we do know is that we suddenly have about 1,000 questions and exactly zero answers.

If there really are shelves full of books sitting quietly inside that building, we’d love the opportunity to learn the story and maybe help those books find their way back into readers’ hands.

So Tory is officially on a mission to figure out what’s fact, what’s rumor, and whether this mysterious bookstore frozen in time actually exists.

Will anything come of this?
No clue.

Will we keep investigating?
Absolutely.

If you have any info, comment or DM us. We’re committed.

New books hit the shelves every day at Nomad. Legit.
Fiction, romance, history, classics, kids books, memoirs, and more.
Best part? Even the books that look brand new are priced like used books. That’s how we roll.
Come dig through the newest arrivals before they’re gone.

Watching Pride through the eyes of a three-year-old is pretty magical. 🌈✨

For Cosmo, it wasn’t about politics or headlines. It was music, dancing, bright colors, people celebrating, and the pure excitement of seeing Pride’s “darf fader”! 😂

Steve and Cosmo had the best time soaking it all in, and it was a beautiful reminder that community celebrations can simply be about joy, acceptance, and showing up exactly as you are.

Here’s to raising kind humans who understand that there’s room for everyone at the party. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
